2007: Second German Speaking Tour with Juan Melendez

A second speaking tour across Germany with Juan Melendez, a man who was exonerated from death row after close to 18 years, took place from June 3rd until June 26th 2007.

The tour was a joint project by several Human Rights groups, whereas the organization of the tour itself was done by Gabi Uhl and Susanne Cardona, both members of the German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.

Of the total 28 events, one was organized solely by the German Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and four were co-organized  by the GCADP. You’ll find more information about the organizers of the single events here.

Around 4000 people attended to hear Mr. Melendez’ story throughout the tour. In addition to this, Juan Melendez was watched on TV by about 2 million people when he was interviewed on the Kerner-Show.
