My name is Jeff M., and I´m on death row here in North Carolina. I am 59 years old, and have been incarcerated for the last 39 years. I read a lot, primarily sci-fi and fantasy. I like science, history, nature, and learning new things. Thanks to a local catholic church that has been sponsoring my education, I have an associate degree, and have started working toward my Bachelor´s degree. I´ve been writing essays for a site called thegoatpol.org, and currently have 7 essays published there. Hello everyone!
I would be glad to have the opportunity to be able to have a pen pal from Germany! It would be nice to be able to share life events with someone from a European Union country. I was long ago, a member of the United States Army. I attended my sisters wedding to a German national in the mid 1980s. I believe that no matter how good a friend is they’re going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I believe true friendship continues to grow. Within this dark coffin of death; I have been considered, classified, and treated as a worthless existence by an obviously ignorant society who placed me on an overcrowded prison shelf where I have been warehoused for the past 18 years of my life.

My name is Byron and I’m from a small town in South Carolina. I enjoy reading, writing, learning, working out, listening to music, laughing, having a good time and making new friends. Despite life’s ups and downs, I keep a positive attitude and remain optimistic. We only live once, so I believe it is important to maximize the opportunities and experiences life has to offer. One of the most important being that of genuine friendship.

I divide my days up by doing the things I enjoy, though I spend a portion of them working on a book I’m writing; trying to get something going with that! Though I’m physically inside a cell and recognize my reality for what it is, I do my best to mentally escape this bleak environment through my creative writings.

Now, however, I would like to expand my little world by meeting people and making friends from all over, all walks of life. I’m interested in learning about as many different people, cultures, lifestyles and perspectives as possible, including yours, which is why I’ve decided to post this profile.

I’m happy you’ve opened and are reading my letter. Today is your lucky day and mine. I’m so pleased to meet you. Obviously, you are searching for a wonderful pen-pal to befriend. So let me introduce myself. My name, you know, is Terrence but almost everyone calls me Terry or Thomas. The story goes that as an infant a close cousin unable to pronounce my given name was able to phonetically gurgle some baby talk and “Tom-as” stuck like glue to me. I am an avid reader, not so much into nonfiction right now but have found the latest Artificial Intelligence information to be very useful and quite interesting, especially what is happening with open AI and ChatGPT. I am a sometime artist (portraits and occasionally animals). People are my favorite models. Maybe you’ll allow me the opportunity to capture your image. Let’s see, I’m 61 years young, a jogger and former athlete and basketball coach. Currently I create content for a couple of podcasts and my official title would be Web-Mining/Freelancer/Content productivity /Talent scout. Of course there is little to no pay in the things we are able to do in our “interviews and phone chats” to area universities and lawyer conferences and of course the things we do for the nonprofit community YMCA, YWCA and the churches is always for the benefit of the disadvantaged youth and adults the woman’s and children’s hospitals and the homeless and others in need. Whatever we are able to do in steering people away from a life of heartache and brokeness that is what we try to accomplish and it gives me personally a feeling that I can really contribute to society in this way that I can make a positive example for others even in this way it’s a very good feeling to have the staff and people on the outside pulling for you and eager to hear your voice encouraging them to positive ways and letting them know you care enough to let yourself be vulnerable transparent and I’ve wept more in the past three years than in my whole life. In the joy of being accepted by men and women who have every right to shun us but instead have allowed us a measure of dignity and worth. I am so appreciative of the things I’ve learned from all I’ve had the privilege to meet and interact with and it’s been completely awesome. It’s been said “if you want to change the world you have to start with the man in the mirror looking back at you”. Perspective is the word here. How we view things. I now see incarceration as the tool that sets me free, as opposed to, the box that confined and contained me. Certainly, I would never recommend any take this route to discover where their place is or purpose for being. I’m reaching individuals well before reaching this point. My current ambition is to attract a network and create a national platform for death row prisoners. Anyone interested in that project I encourage to contact me.
